MasterWish users start by creating an account. With account in hand users are ready to add items. Any item can be added to MasterWish. A user could add their favorite movies from Amazon, the clothes they want from L.L. Bean, and the Rubik's Cube they would like from wherever you can find it. Many users get a jump-start by importing their Amazon wish lists.
Once a user has added some items they want, anyone in the world can see their 'Master List', the list of all the items they want. Now that this initial list is created, most users will want to organize their items in to other lists such as movies, books, birthday lists or household lists. Any item can be in as many lists as the user wants to include them in.
With items neatly organized in lists users can choose to share their lists with everyone, friends, family or just keep them to themselves. Many users choose to restrict the viewing of their masterlist to just themselves then share their items only through their other lists.
Having a list is great, but getting stuff is better. Hopefully your friends will help you out here. When someone buys an item from a MasterWish list they mark the item as purchased with the date they intend to give the gift. The user does not hear anything until the day after they were supposed to receive the gift, but the item will be locked so other users cannot see or purchase the item for them.
The day after the item was supposed to be given to the MasterWish user the user will be notified of purchase to make sure it is safe to take it off their list. Through this process we hope to help you share what you want with who you want it from, regardless of where it comes from.
